Course Description:

The course adopts a task-based approach, with a content-based emphasis to integrate English and Engineering subjects to better prepare students for their professional lives than do the traditional models. Moreover, students experience teamwork early in their careers before their jobs or their companies' success depends on their ability to work in teams. They develop their teamwork skills gradually in a mutually supportive atmosphere so that they are well prepared for the professional world. Our integration does not have to compromise the ideals of Freshman English. In fact, we believe that our course helps freshmen develop the English language skills they will need as college students and as future engineers in a highly competitive workplace that demands good communication skills and the ability to work as individuals and in teams. Also emphasized in the course is the training of students' English listening skills.
